OPEN POSITION: Solar Superintendent – Carlsbad 

EVA Green Power is a leading commercial solar energy installer in California. We install roof top systems, ground mount systems, and both carport and shade structures.  We are passionate about what we do and are looking for talented people who share our passion.  

 

EVA Green Power is seeking a Solar Superintendent who will serve as the company representative on site for the construction of mid-size commercial and industrial solar and energy efficiency projects. Responsibilities include managing and coordinating subcontractors, material, and equipment receiving; ensuring that specifications are being strictly followed; monitoring and completing operations and maintenance (O&M) work as needed, and ensuring work is proceeding on schedule and within budget using Microsoft Project Software. The Superintendent is responsible for scheduling of sub contactors, utility inspections, city inspections, 3rd Party inspections, quality control, and project site safety. The Superintendent also coordinates among Company project stakeholders, including engineering, design, procurement, construction, and O&M sub contactors. The Superintendent will be assigned to multiple projects and will devote most of the time at the project site when construction is ongoing.  

 

Title: Commercial Solar Superintendent 

Status: Full Time 

Location: Carlsbad 

Reports to: Operations Manager  

Pay Range: $45/hr. - $60/hr. 

 

Primary Responsibilities 

  • Serves as the principal company representative responsible for the daily operations of the project. 

  • Schedules and supervises all on-site and (as assigned) off-site subcontractors, consultants, vendors, and related work for solar energy, battery storage, lighting, HVAC, and electric vehicle charging projects. 

  • Assures that all project work by each subcontractor and all materials supplied by any vendor fully complies with project plans, the subcontractor’s contracted scope of work or applicable specifications, applicable laws and permits, utility requirements, and applicable codes, including the National Electric Code. 

  • Works closely with the project manager on planning, organizing, and overseeing of project execution. Ensures tight communication on any delays, issues or concerns regarding schedule, budget, and labor. 

  • Monitors and oversees the installation of all components of solar projects to include modules, inverters, electrical collection lines, access roadways, transmission lines, public roads, carport, lighting etc., in accordance with all applicable documents and agreements. 

  • Responsible for reviewing specifications and drawings, executing and managing site QA/QC activities, and communicating any issues and discrepancies to the appropriate party. 

  • Responsible for completing both pre and post installation check list as required for each project. 

  • Completion of Electrical PV design check list provided by the engineering team. Ensures safe work practices including OSHA standards, company safety programs and policies relative to the installation of these systems. 

  • Prioritizes work to meet project goals including deadlines, cost targets and project schedules. 

  • Monitors and oversees the receipt of main equipment supplied including transformers, modules, trackers, inverters, and ensure proper documentation is completed. 

  • Responsible for reviewing and maintaining project records. 

  • Required to be present at the job site for all inspections.  

  • Completes a final site walk with contactors after completion of all O&M (Operation & Maintenance) work.  

  • Responsible for troubleshooting of inverter failures and coordinating repair or replacement of the inverter as needed.  

  • Perform small repair to electrical systems and replacement of some panels if a string is down. 

  • Assemble our designed Data Acquisition System (DAS) 

  • Works as a team player with effective written and oral communication skills. 

  • Represents the organization professionally with general contractor, subcontractors, vendors, and local officials. 

 

Qualifications  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Engineering, or other related field, preferred. 

  • General understanding of MS Project and Planner.  Or a willingness to learn.  

  • Minimum five years’ experience as a Construction Superintendent and/or seven years as an Electrical Superintendent. 

  • High degree of familiarity with Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contract and subcontract documents, terms and conditions. 

  • Demonstrated understanding of plans and specifications. 

  • Effective communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, and problem-solving techniques. 

  • Forklift certified, or willing to become certified.  

  • Posting may require some travel within California.  

  • Working knowledge of OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) requirements. 

  • Must be able to climb ladders, including roof access ladders that can range from 10 feet up to 50 feet when a safety lift is not in use.   

  • Must be able to lift objects up to 50 lb.
